Melanie Haynes is a self taught, London based artist & Interior Designer. For Melanie, painting serves as a grounding force in her life, providing a form of self expression and discovery. She describes her process as an intuitive and experimental journey led by instinct.
Whilst blending her interior design career with her love for painting she is able to create pieces that feel cohesive and tactile for any space through the use of soft palettes and textured layers. Her practice mainly consists of using layered acrylic washes and free-flowing oil pastels to bring a feeling of fluidity and movement. She tends to draw inspiration from her surroundings and personal experiences by allowing them to guide her artistic decisions to create works that evoke a sense of authenticity and emotional depth. When painting, she speaks of how she is able to reach parts of her subconscious mind and in turn, use the strokes, colours and marks to create a vivid interpretation of this.
